Just to acknowledge the hard work and kindness of the staff of Southampton General
Hi everyone
This post is a little different, by which I just wanted to express how grateful I am to everyone at The Southampton General Hospital and Royal South Hants minor injuries clinic.
My husband ruptured his achilles tendon last week and the wonderful minor injuries clinic sorted us out faster than we thought possible, sending us home (him in a cast with crutches) within the hour. The following Friday, we spent a (very long) day at the Southampton General Hospital where they performed the repair operation.
I’m very glad to report he’s doing pretty well and making a good recovery. We’re due to go back for a follow-up appointment within a couple of weeks, where they’ll either change the cast or provide a boot. It’s been quite tough in that I have to do a whole range of little things that he’s currently not able to (for instance, carrying everything!)
He’s quite bright and making the most of having a bit of time away from work. He also knows the more he rests, the quicker he can return to Boot camp, which he’s certainly missing!
So just to express my gratitude and appreciation to all the doctors, nurses, day surgery support staff and everyone else at Southampton General who looked after us both on what turned out to be a very long day last Friday. We felt in extremely safe hands and very fortunate to have access to the healthcare system we have.
I wish you all well and hope you have a wonderful week! Gen x
